ISLAMABAD: Following the announcement of a PTI rally, the federal capital has been placed on high alert today (Thursday) leading to sealing of Red Zone, suspension of metro service and closure of schools in Islamabad.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced holding a rally in the federal capital today (Thursday) despite the revocation of the non-objection certificate (NOC) that was granted earlier to the Imran Khan-founded party.

In a bid to prevent any untoward incidents, containers have been placed on all major avenues leading into the city, including Faizabad, Murree Road and Sawan Bridge while Islamabad Red Zone has been completely sealed.

Due to the blockages of the roads, traffic jams are witnessed on the Islamabad Expressway, IJP road, 9th Avenue and Margalla Road.

The security measures have resulted in significant disruption for residents and commuters, as road blockages have led to severe traffic jams across the city.

The situation has caused considerable inconvenience, with many struggling to navigate the congested streets.

The blockade has led to widespread frustration among commuters, many of whom were caught in lengthy delays as they attempted to reach their destinations.

The disruption has added to the challenges faced by the city’s residents, with normal life coming to a virtual standstill in affected areas.

In light of the potential unrest, Islamabad’s educational institutions were ordered to remain closed for the day, n the instructions of the Interior Ministry.

The District Commissioner of Islamabad decided to keep the schools closed given the prevailing situation, with the safety of the children being the primary concern.

Due to the rallies and protests, the Metro bus service in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will also remain suspended for the day, and the security at the Metro bus stations has also been enhanced.

The district administration has decided to completely shut down the Metro bus service from the President station to the Pak Secretariat.
