Islamabad returns to normalcy: Roads reopened, Metro functional

Islamabad roads reopened

ISLAMABAD: Residents of Islamabad have heaved a sigh of relief as the federal capital saw a return to normalcy today after a day of disruption and chaos that had gripped the city.

Following the closure of key roads and the suspension of the Metro bus service due to heightened security concerns, all routes have now been reopened for traffic, and the Metro service has resumed regular operations, much to the relief of commuters.

The disruptions began yesterday when authorities implemented stringent security measures in response to a planned rally by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Supreme Court hearing of Mubarak Sani case.

Fearing potential unrest, the administration had sealed off major avenues leading into Islamabad, including the Red Zone, by placing containers and other barricades.

Key entry points such as Faizabad and Murree Road were completely blocked, causing widespread traffic jams and leaving commuters stranded for hours.

In addition to road closures, the Metro bus service, a vital mode of public transport in the city, was suspended as a precautionary measure. Schools in Islamabad were also ordered to close for the day, further adding to the disruption in the daily lives of residents.

As of today, all roads in Islamabad have been cleared and reopened, and the Metro bus service is fully functional once again. The city’s administration has assured citizens that the situation is under control and that normalcy has been restored. Traffic police are actively managing the flow of vehicles to prevent any further disruptions.
