PM Shehbaz unveils plans for IT sector growth

WEB DESK: Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, a significant meeting convened to address the advancement of the Information Technology (IT) sector.
Renowned international experts specialising in IT services attended the meeting, offering their insights and recommendations.
Highlighting the pivotal role of information technology in the nation’s progress, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need to harness the immense potential inherent in the IT sector for the economic prosperity of the country.
He underscored that the application of technology is poised to revolutionise every facet of the economy.
Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif outlined plans to provide the youth with access to globally standardised educational facilities and skill development programmes in the field of information technology.
This initiative aims to equip them with the requisite expertise to meet the demands of the contemporary era.
Acknowledging the significance of international collaboration in advancing the IT sector, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed the intention to seek counsel from experts worldwide.
The meeting, held under the auspices of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, also deliberated on initiatives pertaining to the digitisation of the IT sector.
It was disclosed that a comprehensive action plan is underway to enact reforms and digitise the sector effectively. The plan encompasses strategies to enhance public internet accessibility, bolster digital infrastructure, promote e-governance, offer professional digital skills training to youth, and foster entrepreneurship within the sector.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued directives to formulate a comprehensive action plan to prioritise the augmentation of national IT revenues.
The meeting witnessed the participation of federal ministers, including Muhammad Jehanzaib, Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ataullah Tarar, Shezah Fatima Khawaja, Rana Mashood Khan, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Muhammad Jehanzaib Khan, and other relevant dignitaries.
