Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamabad administration at loggerheads over ‘Gaza march’

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and the Islamabad district administration find themselves in conflict over the planned Gaza March, scheduled by JI for October 29 (Sunday).

However, the district administration has denied permission for the march, citing the ban under Section 144, prohibiting public gatherings.

Amid these tensions, Islamabad Police arrestwed multiple JI workers at Serena Chowk, where the party had set up a camp in preparation for the march. Those detained include the Amir of JI Islamabad, JI Islamabad chief Nasrullah Randhawa, spokesperson Aamir Baloch,

JI leader, Mian Aslam  has accused the police of dismantling the camp and using force against the workers. He is urging the government to release the detained workers and permit the march to proceed.
