Jaun Elia’s birth anniversary being observed today

WEB DESK: The birth anniversary of the celebrated Urdu poet and scholar, Jaun Elia, was observed on Thursday.
Jaun Elia was the youngest among his siblings. His father, Allama Shafiq Hasan Elia, was deeply immersed in art and literature, also serving as an astrologer and poet.
Juan Elia’s date of birth is December 14, 1931.
Growing up in a literary environment, Jaun Elia penned his first Urdu couplet at the tender age of 8. Proficient in Arabic, English, Persian, Sanskrit, and Hebrew, he migrated to Pakistan in 1957 and settled in Karachi.

His initial poetic collection, “Shayad,” was published in 1991 when he turned 60. The second collection, “Ya’ani,” was posthumously published in 2003. Subsequently, his companion, Khalid Ansari, compiled and released three consecutive collections: “Gumaan” in 2004, “Lekin” in 2006, and “Goya” in 2008.
After battling a prolonged illness, Jaun Elia passed away on November 8, 2002, in Karachi.
