Islamabad protest

PESHAWAR/ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) convoy has departed from Makraz-e-Islami in Peshawar, heading towards Islamabad for their planned protest.

Protest or Section 144? IHC reserves verdict

The convoy, led by JI’s provincial general secretary, includes participants from various regions. Workers from Mardan, Nowshera, and Charsadda are joining the convoy.

Additionally, workers from Mohmand district and Khyber district have also left in the form of a procession, according to sources.

However, the final decision on whether the protest will be allowed in Islamabad is still pending. Earlier today, Justice Saman Rifat Imtiaz of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) presided over a case filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over not being allowed to hold protest in the capital. Justice Saman Imtiaz reserved the verdict, which is still awaited.

Imposition of section 144 in Punjab challenged in LHC

Meanwhile, five JI workers who arrived for the sit-in have been arrested from Express Chowk by the Islamabad Police. It is notable here that Section 144 has been implemented in the capital and the arrests have likely been made due to violation of Section 144.
