Journalist Matiullah Jan reportedly ‘abducted’

ISLAMABAD: Son of senior journalist Matiullah Jan has claimed that his father has been abducted by unidentified individuals late Wednesday night.
In a video posted on Facebook and ‘X’, his son Waheed Murad claimed that unidentified individuals in plain clothes whisked off his father Matiullah Jan and fellow journalist Saqib Bashir from the parking lot of PIMS hospital.
Saqib Bashir was later let go in sector I-9 of Islamabad. However, Matiullah Jan remains missing, the son claimed.
Matiullah’s son has demanded that his father be let go immediately and his family be informed about his whereabouts, he tweeted on’ X’.

Senior journalist and anchorperson Hamid Mir in his post on ‘X’ claimed that Matiullah Jan and another journalist, Saqib Bashir, were abducted by unidentified individuals on the night of November 26.
According to Mir, Bashir is filing a petition with the Islamabad High Court regarding the incident.
Matiullah Jan earlier shared a video on social media, alleging a Rangers official was run over by his own vehicle in Islamabad.
However, Rangers officials claimed a speeding vehicle driven by protesters struck their colleague. Jan also accused PIMS officials of facing pressure to avoid reporting casualties from the operation against PTI protesters.
