Kaghan highway blocked for over 30 hours; tourists, locals stranded

KAGHAN: For over 30 hours, the Kaghan Highway, a crucial route connecting the picturesque tourist spot of Kaghan Valley, has been impassable due to substantial landslides triggered by heavy rains in the Ghanol Valley.

Despite concerted efforts by authorities, the road remains blocked, trapping both tourists and locals on either side.

The closure occurred following the descent of large rocks onto the Kaghan highway during intense rainfall on Saturday and Sunday nights, leading to vehicles being marooned on both ends of the landslide.

While attempts to clear the debris with explosives are underway, progress has been hampered by the significant volume of rock and rubble.

The shutdown of the Kaghan Highway has left numerous tourists, who had journeyed to the Kaghan Valley for the weekend, stranded with no means of returning home.
