Karachi expected to receive rain from next week


rain expected in Karachi from May 5

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has brought good news for Karachiites, forecasting rain in the city starting May 5.

In a statement, the department said thunderstorms and rainfall are expected Monday evening, which could continue for one to two days.

Earlier, the Met Office had predicted thunderstorms, hail, and heavy rain in various parts of the country today, especially in upper Sindh and Balochistan during the evening.

It further forecast scattered rain in Quetta, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, with chances of heavy downpours and hailstorms in some areas.

Lahore experienced rainfall on Thursday night, bringing down temperatures. More showers are likely this afternoon.

On the other hand, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had already issued a rain alert, warning of strong storms and heavy rain till May 4.

The alert stated that lightning strikes are likely over the next three days.

The PDMA also warned of possible landslides in Murree and Galiyat, advising local authorities to remain on high alert.
