Karachi export zone blaze: Fire Brigade seeks help from water corporation

KARACHI: A fire broke out in Landhi Export Processing Zone in Karachi at 3 AM on Sunday. So far, the fire department and the Rescue Service 1122 has not been able to control the fire, which has now engulfed two more factories.
According to Rescue officials, 14 fire tenders, and three snorkels from Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) are trying to extinguish the fire.
Now, the Fire brigade and Rescue 1122 have also sought help from Karachi Water Corporation.
In response, the Water Corporation has imposed an emergency on Landhi and Sherpao hydrants, the corporation’s spokesperson told media on Sunday afternoon.
Water tankers have been placed on standby at Safoora hydrant as well, the spokesperson said. Tankers have also been dispatched to the scene of the fire.
This most recent Karachi Fire in factories has been classified as third-degree by the Fire brigade officials. Due to strong winds, the fire is spreading from one factory to two other factories.
