Karachi faces possible another electricity price hike in three months


KARACHI: Karachi is bracing for the possibility of yet another increase in electricity prices within a short three-month span.

According to Jung Urdu, K-Electric has submitted a request for an additional rise of Rs3.02 per unit.

Reports indicate that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has completed its hearing, and a petition to impose an extra financial burden of Rs8.37 billion 37 on consumers of Distribution Companies (DISCO) has been put forward.

Meanwhile, the hearing for the petition is scheduled for November 1.

It’s worth noting that the residents of Karachi have already experienced a price hike of Rs3.28 per unit in the previous three-month period, spanning from April to June.
