KARACHI: The fire in Landhi Export Processing Zone in Karachi that broke out at 3 AM on Sunday has finally been brought under control, Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan said on Monday. There is a minor fire still at some places in the factories, he said.
The front walls of the three-storey factory building will be demolished. Yesterday, the factory had been declared hazardous because of the damaged caused due to the fire.
No casualties have been reported in the factories that caught fire, Fire Brigade officials said.
Late last night, two excavators reached the firefighting site. The firefighting began by demolishing the front walls of the building.
The fire had engulfed multiple factories manufacturing cosmetics and garments. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Fire Brigade and Rescue 1122 have been continuously involved in firefighting the affected site.
Help was also sought from the water corporation, which implemented emergency on nearby hydrants to ensure supply of water for firefighting.
