The plaza housed shops dealing in garments, leather goods, and watches due to which the fire spread rapidly to the fifth floor of the building, which was successfully contained, according to Chief Fire Officer.

It is important to note that this is the third blaze in the city’s plazas during the current month.

On December 3, a fire broke out in Rampa Plaza which was brought under control after firefighting efforts.

On December 19 another fire broke out in a flat on the first floor of the multi-storey building before spreading to the upper floors. Individuals inside the affected building at the time were safely evacuated.

Earlier this month, after the blaze that broke out at Rimpa Plaza on December 3, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had urged the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and relevant authorities to inspect high-rise buildings to prevent similar incidents in the future.
