Karachi implements alternative traffic plan for Muharram

KARACHI: Karachi’s traffic police introduced an alternative traffic plan in preparation for the upcoming Muharram processions from Monday to Wednesday, spanning from Muharram 8 till Muhammar 10.
The main Muharram procession in Karachi will start from Nishtar Park and conclude at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian. This is will the closure of traffic along the procession route beyond Guru Mandar Chowk.

Under the current traffic arrangement, all vehicles will be rerouted towards Bahadur Yar Jang road in Soldier Bazaar. Vehicles displaying procession stickers will have access via the Shahrah-e-Quaideen society traffic light signal.
For security reasons, MA Jinnah road will be closed from Guru Mandir chowk to Tower during Muharram. Residents traveling from Nazimabad can use Nishtar Road to reach Manzil via Garden from Lasbella Chowk.
Citizens from Liaquatabad can proceed towards Central Jail via Lasbella chowk, turning left at Teen Hatti. Those heading to People’s Chowrangi from Hasan Square can access Shahrah-e-Qaideen via Kashmir road.
Commuters from Hasan Square can reach Nishtar Road via Teen Hatti and the Jail Flyover. Highway commuters and exhibition attendees from Shahrah-e-Faisal can use the society traffic light signal to reach Kashmir Road.

Those traveling from Jamshed Road to Guru Mandir and MA Jinnah Road can divert to Bahadur Yar Jung road in Soldier Bazaar from Guru Mandir. Travelers heading to MA Jinnah Road from Garden can opt for routes passing through Gul Plaza and Coast Guard via Anklesaria..
