Karachi mall fire under control as one floor gutted

Karachi: The fire that broke out earlier today at a popular mall in Karachi at Johar Mor has been brought under control, but one of the floors has been gutted due to the impact.

It took the fire brigade authorities four-hour to control the fire at Millennium Mall and the cooling process is currently ongoing to prevent any potential reignition.

According to fire brigade authorities, 12 fire tenders, two bowsers, and two snorkels were deployed to combat the blaze. No casualties have been reported so far, and further investigations are underway to determine cause of the fire.

Last year in the same area, more than 30 shops were gutted in a fire at a furniture market in Gulistan Johar. The fire had erupted in a furniture market near Kamran Chowrangi, initially one fire tender was sent to douse of the fire. The fire had quickly spread to other market areas and gained intensity, and flames were visible from a distance. While no loss of life was reported, shopkeepers incurred huge losses in terms of their inventory.
