Karachi to get new police chief

KARACHI: Karachi is likely to get a new police chief as a decision has been made to replace acting additional Inspector General (IG) Imran Yaqub Minhas.
According to reports, Acting Additional IG Imran Yaqub Minhas is set to be replaced, with Javed Alam Odho returning as the new Karachi Police Chief.
Sources within the Central Police Office have claimed that after meetings with key figures in the Sindh government, it has been decided to reappoint Javed Alam Odho as Karachi Police Chief.
Not in favour of banning any party: Murad Ali Shah
Odho was previously appointed as city’s Police Chief on June 2, 2022. However, during the interim government period, Odho was replaced by Khadim Hussain Rind.
Following the establishment of the Pakistan People’s Party government in Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon was appointed as IG Sindh, and the additional charge of Additional IG Karachi was given to Additional IG CTD Imran Yaqub Minhas.
Sources indicate that the Sindh government has now decided to reappoint Javed Alam Odho and the notification for his appointment will be issued soon.
