Karachi University to award honorary doctrate to Iranian President

KARACHI: The University of Karachi has decided to award an honorary doctorate, PhD, to Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi during his visit to Sindh’s provincial capital on April 23 (Tuesday).
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who is also the university’s chancellor, requested conferring the degree on the Iranian president.
He approved the decision in the syndicate’s meeting. In a statement, UoK Vice Chancellor Khalid Iraqi said that a special ceremony would be organised for awarding the degree.
Tessori would award the honorary doctorate to Iran’s president. Raisi is the first head of state to visit Pakistan after the formation of the new government.

PUBLIC HOLIDAY IN SINDH TOMORROW
It will be a public holiday in the city on Tuesday, according to a notification issued by the administrator. All the government and private offices, educational institutions (public/private), will remain closed except the essential services and officials involved in emergency duties.
Moreover, the government has also announced its decision to take one of the top hotels in the city, Movenpick, under its control for three days.
The hotel management has cancelled all bookings during the three days and added that all shops will remain closed.
