KARACHI: Karachi’s main water supply line from the Dhabeji pumping station, is still under repairs disrupting the water supply in several areas of the city.
The 84-inch water supply line from the Dhabeji pumping station burst on University Road, leaving several areas in Karachi without water. The damage on Karachi’s water supply line reportedly occurred during excavation work for the Red Line project, leading to a daily loss of 150 million gallons of water.
According to officials, the damaged pipeline serves key localities such as Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Bahadurabad, Lines Area, and Lyari.
Registration of 200 health institutions on the cards
The Karachi Water Corporation (KWC) officials claim that two out of three leaks in the pipeline have been repaired, with efforts underway to fix the third. The repair work is expected to be completed by Wednesday night, and water supply fully restored by Thursday.
According to the KWC, the repair operations have been ongoing round the clock, involving over 300 laborers and heavy machinery.
“We have completed repairs on two points, and work on the third leak is progressing rapidly. By Wednesday night, water supply will be partially restored, and by Thursday, it will resume completely,” a KWC official assured.
Residents of affected areas have been urged to use water sparingly until the repairs are completed to avoid additional inconvenience.
