BHASHA: The Karakoram Highway is currently closed at Bhasha in the Upper Kohistan district, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hazara Division.
This closure has left many travellers stranded in the mountainous region. Among those affected are elderly people, children, and women who are unable to continue their journeys. Hundreds of vehicles are also stuck due to the highway’s closure.

The Karakoram Highway is national highway that helps connect Pakistan to China. The 1,300 kilometre-long highway connects Hasan Abdal in Punjab to the Khunjerab Pass in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Authorities have attributed the closure to ongoing rehabilitation work on the Karakoram Highway.
Earlier, on Wednesday bad weather and landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan led to several sections of the Karakoram Highway impassable. This prompted the authorities to advise against travelling until the roads were safe for traffic.
