Karakoram International University closed for indefinite period

GILGIT: The Karakoram International University (KIU) has been closed for an indefinite period, according to a notification issued by the university.

According to the notification issued by the deputy registrar, the varsity has been closed for indefinite period. However, the faculty and staff members should report for duty on November 27.

Orders have also been issued to students to vacate the university hostels and the KIU senate elections have also been postponed for an indefinite period.

It is important to mention here that the students of Karakoram International University held a sit-in for two days against the increase in fees last week and had also blocked the KIU road and had demanded the reversal of fee hike.
