Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet approves Rs 33 billion for development projects

PESHAWAR: The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has marked Rs 33 billion for development programs in the next fiscal year. The cabinet meeting, chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, gave formal approval today (Thursday).

The meeting also approved the amendments to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mines and Minerals Act , Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Department said after the meeting, adding that the release of Rs 50 million for the Artist Welfare Endowment Fund was also approved.

The cabinet meeting approved a fund of Rs 14 million for FATA University, along with revision of the travel allowance for family welfare assistants to Rs 3000, Information Department said.

PUNJAB CABINET MEETS TODAY AS WELL

Meanwhile, Punjab’s cabinet meeting is also underway in Lahore, with the approval for the reappointment of the President of Bank of Punjab atop the agenda. Moreover, digitisation of FIRs, daily and case diaries also part of the agenda, sources said.

Punjab government will also consider making the mass transit project’s travel facility free for the disabled, senior citizens and students. Other projects seeking approval in today’s meeting include: expansion of the scope of the Walled City Authority to the entire province, amendments to the constitution of the Sports Board, ban on early cultivation of rice, jammers for VVIP duties, approval of Ramadan Guardian Program 2025, and installation of CCTV cameras in government colonies.

Moreover, approval of additional expenses for Horse and Cattle Show 2025, overhauling of the engine of the government helicopter MI-17, and approval of increase in salaries of Vice Chancellors are also included in the meeting’s agenda.
