The strike, which began at midnight, is in response to grievances regarding harassment and regulatory issues faced by petrol dealers. Gul Nawaz Afridi, a prominent figure in the Petrol Dealers Association, highlighted that the district administration had called for the strike to protest against harassment incidents faced by petrol dealers.

The Association is demanding immediate action against small petrol meters in shops, which they claim are causing significant operational difficulties. Additionally, the association is pressing for stringent measures against the sale of smuggled petrol, which they argue undermines legitimate businesses.

As the strike continues, motorists in the affected districts are experiencing disruptions, with many petrol stations remaining shuttered throughout the day.

The protest underscores the broader tensions between the petroleum sector and regulatory bodies, with calls for more robust enforcement and protection measures for legitimate petrol dealers.

The district administration has yet to respond to the demands, and the duration of the strike remains uncertain.
