KARACHI: The Korangi Creek fire, which has been burning since March 28 with the same intensity in Karachi, was suddenly extinguished on Tuesday morning.
The fire that has been burning in Korangi Creek for 17 days remained out of control, with no decisive actions taken by authorities to contain it. The district administration had sealed off the area where the fire continues, though firefighting efforts have been minimal.
On Tuesday morning, the fire was suddenly extinguished; however, a strong gas leakage continues in a residential area of the city, with a foul smell spreading through the surroundings. Authorities say the gas is emerging from underground and its pressure remains steady.

The leak was first noticed after a fire broke out on March 29 during a routine water boring. Since then, emergency teams have been monitoring the situation.
Officials have sealed off the site and barred unrelated individuals from approaching due to safety concerns. Residents nearby have complained about the strong odor, while authorities are yet to confirm the exact source of the gas.
This is not the first such incident in Karachi. Similar underground gas leaks have been reported in the past, often blamed on poor infrastructure and unmonitored bore activity
