KP Assembly: Suraya Bibi nominated for Deputy Speaker

PESHAWAR: In a historical move, the name of Suraya Bibi has been officially confirmed for the position of Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, marking a historic move in the region’s political landscape.

According to credible sources within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party’s leadership has advocated for a woman to occupy the Deputy Speaker’s role. Consequently, Suraya Bibi emerged as the frontrunner for the position.

Hailing from the constituency of PK-1 Chitral, Suraya Bibi secured victory in the general elections, representing the Banu, Chitral, and Lower Dir regions.

Additionally, she serves as the Vice President of the Malakand Women’s Wing of the Tehreek-e-Insaf and is renowned for her dedicated social work in the community. Notably, Suraya Bibi holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology, underscoring her academic credentials.

This decision follows in the footsteps of Mehr Taj Roghani, who previously held the esteemed position of Deputy Speaker in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Suraya Bibi’s nomination reflects a concerted effort towards inclusivity and gender representation in the province’s legislative affairs.
