The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had approved significant changes to its Rules and Regulations yesterday. The new rules are aimed at modernising the legislative process and enhancing transparency and accountability in the provincial assembly. The move comes as part of a broader effort to streamline governance and improve legislative efficiency.

MINIMUM WAGE RAISED TO RS 40,000

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also approved a new minimum wage for workers, setting it at Rs 40,000. This change was officially confirmed in the assembly’s recent budget session and is expected to improve the livelihoods of low-income workers across the province.

Following the approval, the Labor Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a formal notification, confirming the increase of the monthly minimum wage from Rs 36,000 to Rs 40,000. The decision has been hailed as a much-needed step in addressing rising inflation and improving workers’ financial security.

The notification also outlines the revised daily wage, which will now stand at Rs 1,538 for workers in the province. This marks a significant improvement from the previous daily wage.

EQUAL WAGE POLICY FOR TRANSGENDER WORKERS

In a progressive move, the notification also assures that female and transgender workers will receive the same minimum wage as their male counterparts.
