CM Gandapur also directed that the solution be implemented on an emergency basis to provide relief to the people who are already under a crisis situation because of the recent surge in violence.
KURRAM SITUATION
The Kurram district has been under a lockdown type situation. The Thall-Parachinar Main Road is still closed for any sort of movement, causing food shortage for the denizens of the city.
Reportedly, flour, wheat and sugar have gone missing from the market, adding to the difficulties of the citizens. This has prompted the provincial government to take emergency measures to resolve the issues.
The Thall Main Road has been closed since October 12 due to law and order situation.
The tribal region has been gripped with violence, which is said to be caused by the infiltration of terrorists’ organisations. There are also reports of rivalries fueling the incident. A grand peace Jirga was called by the provincial government to resolve the issues ailing the district. However, latest reports suggest that the Jirga failed to reach a consensus on how to tackle the situation in Kurram.
The road blockages have led to a shortage of food, petrol and medicines. Helicopter services are being used to ensure the supply of critical medicines, while the provincial government is now aiming to resolve the food crisis as well.
