KP establishes working group on human rights

PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has established a ‘Provincial Working Group on Human Rights’, led by Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah.

Additional Chief Secretary Interior and other secretaries have also been included in the working group. The notification of the working group was issued by the Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights Department on Friday.

This working group will ensure protection, promotion and implementation of human rights, the statement said, adding that the group will also be responsible for the implementation of human rights treaties.

Promoting timely measures on the Action Plan for Human Rights will also be a responsibility, the statement added.

An additional responsibility of the working group will be to submit recommendations for a policy to protect human rights in the province.
