KP government establishes permanent tourism police force


The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa officially instituted a permanent Tourism Police force on Tuesday.

PESHAWAR: The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa officially instituted a permanent Tourism Police force on Tuesday.

The aim of the new police department is designed to improve the security in the region bordering Afghanistan. This is help boost the tourism in the area.

The decision was reached during a session of the Culture and Tourism Authority Board, presided over by the province’s Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur.  

The government also announced an increase in salary for the Tourism Police personnel. Officers previously receiving Rs36,000 monthly will now be taking home Rs45,000.

The salary raise is expected to boost the effectiveness and dedication of the officers tasked with safeguarding visitors to the province.

The tourism police will be responsible for ensuring the safety of tourists, addressing their concerns, and providing assistance in different situations should the need arise.
