No meat days in KP abolished

PESHAWAR: The provincial government has abolished the weekly “meat free” days in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for the holy month of Ramazan.

According to a notification issued by the KP Food Department, the weekly no-meat sale holiday has been ended. Now meat will be available throughout the week.

According to the notification, the restriction on meat sales during Ramazan has been lifted and there would be no ban on the slaughter of animals and the sale of meat during the holy month

For a long time, the commercial sale and slaughter of animals on Tuesdays and Wednesdays is banned in Pakistan to protect animal populations and maintain production balance.

However, chicken meat remains available on those days. Now, the provincial government has decided to lift the meat sale ban during Ramadan.
