bomb attack on diplomat convoy

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formed a two-member high-level fact-finding committee to investigate the bomb attack on a police van deployed to guard a convoy of foreign diplomats on the Swat-Malam Jabba Road.

According to a notification issued by the Department of Interior and Tribal Affairs, the provincial government has tasked Special Secretary of Home Department Zubair Ahmed and Additional Inspector General of Police Alam Khan Shenwari to lead the investigation.

The two-member committee will probe the bombing of the police vehicle assigned to protect the convoy of foreign diplomats on the Swat-Malam Jabba Road.

The committee has been instructed to complete its investigation within a week and submit a report to the provincial government.

On September 22, a police vehicle deployed to guard the convoy of foreign ambassadors returning to Islamabad from Malam Jabba, Swat, was hit by a bomb on the Malam Jabba Road.

As a result, one police officer was killed, and three others were injured. However, the diplomats remained unharmed in the attack.

Earlier, members of the Provincial Assembly from Swat had demanded to form a Joint Investigation Team to investigate incidents of terrorism in the province, including those in Swat.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has sent letters to the 12 ambassadors who remained unharmed in the Swat bomb blast.

In the letters, the act of terrorism was condemned, and it was mentioned that the ambassadors would soon be invited to the KP Governor House.
