KP govt launches universal number plate system, online tax module

PESHAWAR: The Excise Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) officially launched a universal number plate system for vehicles across the northwestern province, alongside a public facilitation module for property tax submission.
The initiative was inaugurated by the KP Chief Minster Ali Amin Gandapur.

The new online system will allow taxpayers to access their tax records remotely, facilitating a more efficient process for tax management.
Taxpayers can now obtain their tax bills online and an online tax calculator has also been introduced to assist in the calculation of the dues.

Officials estimate that the implementation of the system could improve tax collection by almost Rs5 billion annually.
The digitisation and centralisation of the vehicle registration process is expected to improve oversight and help address issues related to stolen vehicles.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister talked about the importance of digitisation for effective governance. He noted that the ongoing efforts to digitise government operations under the e-government framework aims to increase transparency and efficiency within provincial departments.
Ultimately, this will contribute to financial self-sufficiency for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
