KP increases salaries for government employees


The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government decided to increase the salaries of government employees in the region on Thursday.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government decided to increase the salaries of government employees in the region on Thursday.

The budget includes a 10 per cent salary raise for KP government employees up to grade 16, with a further increase to 25 per cent for those in higher grades. Public employees up to grade 17 will see a 20 per cent salary hike

Meanwhile, financial adviser to KP Chief Minister Muzzammil Aslam also mentioned a 10 per cent increase in pensions.

In a statement, Muzzammil Aslam highlighted that the federal government had previously announced a 25 per cent raise for grades one to 16 and a 20 per cent raise for grades above 17. This also includes a 15 per cent increase in pensions.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has now approved these salary and pension increments to align with the federal government’s decision.

The finance adviser indicated that the official notification regarding the salary increments will be released shortly.

The move to increase salaries and pensions is expected to put an additional financial burden of approximately Rs75-80 billion on the province’s budget.
