KP: one terrorist killed during attack on police guarding polio vaccinators

WEB DESK: Unidentified militants attacked a police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Thana Azam Warsak in the Klosha area of South Waziristan Lower on Wednesday. The police officials were on polio vaccination duty when the assailants opened fire, triggering a gun battle that lasted nearly 30 minutes. According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s post on Facebook, one militant was killed in the exchange of fire, while the remaining attackers fled the scene.

From the slain militant, law enforcement recovered an SMG, a rocket launcher, and two motorcycles. The deceased was identified as Afnan, son of Pirzada. During the search, two identity cards, three ATM cards, and a smartphone were also seized.

Officials revealed that one of the recovered ID cards belonged to the dead militant, while the others were identifiers for Constable Imran, who was martyred in a militant attack before Eid. A case regarding Constable Imran’s killing had been registered at the CTD police station in South Waziristan.

Following the clash, additional personnel and armored personnel carriers (APCs) were deployed to the area for further searches and to ensure the safety of polio vaccinators teams.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hamid commended the police party for their response and announced a reward for their bravery.
