In a document submitted to the Chief Secretary, the Department of Primary and Secondary Education has said that timely disbursement of these funds is essential to prevent further disruption to the academic calendar and ensure continuity of education for thousands of students.
“The funds allocated should be released to save students’ time and continue the education process,” the department stated.
370 SCHOOLS DESTROYED ACROSS 14 DISTRICTS
Initial data compiled by the Education Department reveals that 370 government school buildings have been completely destroyed in 14 flood-affected districts. The worst-hit areas include Buner, Swat, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.
A departmental document confirms that more than Rs 2 billion will be required for the reconstruction and restoration of these educational facilities. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, with officials warning that the number may rise as more remote areas are surveyed.
GOVERNMENT RESPONSE AND STRATEGY MEETING
In response to the crisis, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has convened a high-level meeting in Peshawar to discuss flood relief and infrastructure restoration.
According to sources at the CM House, the rehabilitation of flood victims and the restoration of public infrastructure, particularly schools, will be a major agenda item.
