earthquake

SWAT: A 4.5 magnitude earthquake shook Swat district and surrounding areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, causing residents to flee their homes in fear.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that the earthquake’s epicentre was located in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region at a depth of 188 kilometres.

Despite the strong tremors, no damage has been reported. This latest seismic event follows a smaller earthquake earlier in the week when a 3.2 magnitude quake struck Karachi, Pakistan’s southern port city, on Monday.

The epicentre of that quake was 15 kilometres northeast of Karachi at a depth of 22 kilometres. Tremors were felt in several areas including Landhi, Korangi, Clifton, DHA Phase II, Old City, and II Chundrigar Road.
