The security forces responded to the attack with aerial shelling using gunship helicopters, while most of the convoy’s trucks were redirected to Tall.
According to police, the attack took place in the Ochat area of Lower Kurram, where unidentified gunmen targeted the aid convoy.
The injured driver, Akram Khan from Peshawar, was shifted to Alizai Hospital. He said the attackers shot at his truck, puncturing a tyre and forcing him to abandon the vehicle, which was later looted.
Eyewitnesses confirmed the looting and reported plumes of smoke rising from the area.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the recruitment of 407 security personnel for deployment at security posts in Kurram.
The cabinet meeting – chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur – was informed that since October last year, 189 people have lost their lives in incidents of violence in the district. However, efforts have led to a peace agreement.
To ensure the availability of essential supplies, nine aid convoys comprising 718 vehicles have been sent so far. Additionally, under the chief minister’s directives, a special helicopter service has been launched, transporting around 4,000 people in 153 flights.

Authorities have also delivered 19,000 kilograms of medicines to the region, and a plan is underway to dismantle all illegal bunkers by March 23, with 151 already demolished.
In light of security concerns, the government is setting up a special security force for Kurram Road, with 120 security posts planned along the route. These posts will be equipped with necessary resources at a cost of Rs764 million, while Rs480 million has been allocated for the reconstruction of the damaged Bagan Bazaar.
