Lack of resources led to the train derailment, says Saad Rafique

LAHORE: Railways and Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique on Monday said that lack of resources was the real cause behind the tragic incident of Hazara Express.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Rafique said that an investigation is underway and once the investigation is complete action will be taken against those responsible.

“There could be two possible reasons for the accident. Either it is a mechanical fault in the line or a fault was developed. It could be an act of sabotage or mechanical fault,” he added.

Over 30 were killed, and 50 people were injured as Hazara Express derailed near Nawabshah on Sunday noon.

The Sindh government on Monday announced Rs1 million each in aid for victims’ families to support them during this difficult time.
