Lahore Board increases admission fees for private candidates

LAHORE: The Lahore Education Board has significantly raised the admission fees for private candidates of matriculation exams, causing concerns among the parents.
For Grade 9, the admission fee has been increased by 36 per cent, while for Grade 10, it has gone up by 50 per cent. The Grade 9 fee has been revised from Rs 1610 to Rs 2200 and the Grade 10 fee from Rs 2310 to Rs.3480.
Schools in Lahore to reopen today as smog eases
This reflects an increase of Rs.590 for Grade 9 and Rs.1170 for Grade 10.
Additionally, the certificate fee for Grade 10 has been raised from Rs.700 to Rs 1,000. The sports fee has been increased from Rs. 100 to Rs. 280, the development fee from Rs. 200 to Rs. 350, and the processing fee from Rs. 530 to Rs. 870.
Admission form fees have also been raised from Rs. 700 to Rs. 900. Board officials stated that the hike is necessary to manage daily operations as the education boards receive no government funding. However, the fee increase has drawn criticism from students and parents, who have expressed concern over the added financial burden
