Lahore temperatures to hit 40°C

LAHORE: The weather has taken a turn, as the Meteorological Department has warned of intense heat in Lahore today with no chances of respite till next week.
Temperatures are expected to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, while the heat index may feel like 42°C.
Other parts of Punjab are also likely to experience temperatures above 40°C.

However, the Met Office has given some relief, forecasting light rain in Lahore after May 18, which may help reduce the intensity of the heat.
Experts have advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight, stay indoors when possible, and consume plenty of cold fluids to protect themselves from heatstroke.
PDMA ISSUES ALERT
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a high alert across the province, warning of a sharp temperature rise and possible heatwave between May 15 and 19.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Khan has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to stay alert and ensure full readiness of district administrations and related departments.
A PDMA spokesperson said temperatures are expected to remain 4 to 7°C above normal in most areas, with the heat spell likely to continue until May 20.
