LAHORE: Lahore’s traffic police on Tuesday was directed to return seized national identity cards to residents fined for traffic violations.
According to the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Ammara Athar, citizens can collect their confiscated identity cards from the relevant traffic department between the hours of 7 am to 11 pm.
This measure was taken so that the residents would be able to cast their votes on the day of the general election scheduled for February 8
The CTO said that this provision remains applicable even on the day of the election itself.
CTO Amara Athar also provided an alternative avenue for Lahore residents. The residents can submit their vehicle registration book and driving license as collateral in lieu of the traffic fines.
Lahore residents can also retrieve their documents by immediately paying the traffic fine online. The integration of a digital fining system has streamlined the process.
