Laylatul Qadr observed with religious fervor across Pakistan

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: Laylatul Qadr, also known as the Precious Night, was observed nationwide on Sunday with profound religious fervor and reverence.

While the exact date of Laylatul Qadr is uncertain according to Islamic traditions, it is commonly believed among Muslims to occur on one of the odd-numbered nights during the last ten days of Ramadan, often observed on the 27th of Ramadan.

Recognised as a night superior to a thousand months of worship according to the Quran, devout Muslims remained awake until dawn (Fajr), engaging in special prayers, Quran recitations, and soulful gatherings to seek spiritual salvation across Pakistan.

Following Taraweeh prayers, mosques hosted special gatherings where religious scholars emphasised the significance of the night.

Additionally, Shabina (special prayers) gatherings concluded with supplications for the peace and security of Muslims globally and in Pakistan, alongside Quran recitation competitions and the distribution of sweets to participants.

While women mostly offered prayers at home, men congregated in mosques for worship, with local administrations ensuring security by deploying police outside places of worship.

Laylatul Qadr, also referred to as the Night of Destiny, the Night of Decree, the Night of Determination, or the Precious Night, marks the occasion when the Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), heralded as a night of immense spiritual significance in Islam. – INP
