LDA initiates expansion of cycling routes along major roads

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is taking strides towards fostering a cycling-friendly environment within the provincial metropolis by initiating the development of a comprehensive masterplan for cycling tracks along major roads.
In a recent development, a delegation representing the Asian Development Bank convened with LDA Director General Tahir Farooq at his office to deliberate on the formulation of this masterplan specifically tailored for cycling tracks in Lahore.
The meeting underscored the collaborative efforts between the parties involved in drafting this strategic blueprint.
Key agendas addressed during the discussion encompassed the initiation of a feasibility study in partnership with pertinent stakeholders, including LDA and TEPA (Traffic Engineering & Planning Agency), aimed at bolstering cycling infrastructure across the city.
Director General Tahir Farooq, highlighting the importance of this endeavor, directed the TEPA Chief Engineer to extend full support to the Asian Bank team throughout the process.
Furthermore, the dialogue encompassed environmentally sustainable initiatives geared towards curbing environmental pollution within the city.
Plans were deliberated to optimise traffic flow, augment pedestrian facilities, and refine parking arrangements along MM Alam Road, in alignment with the broader objective of enhancing urban mobility and environmental resilience.
