LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz criticizing the Supreme Court (SC) judges decision that allowed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to claim the reserved seats in parliament said that a group of people make decisions that halt the country’s progress.

“I would like to ask the SC judges to let the country function,” Maryam said while addressing the judges of the Supreme Court, saying they should let the country run its course, and those they want to bring back are criminals.

“Courts are bailing those who attacked the national installations. Let this country run smoothly,” Maryam Nawaz urged the apex court, adding this government will complete its term and those who will craft instability will be dealt with an iron hand.

Punjab Chief Minister Nawaz declared that the Constitution is being rewritten to give relief to a national criminal. “I am astonished at the Supreme Court’s decision in which such a relief was provided which was not even sought. Earlier, Justice Umar Atta Bandial rewrote the constitution,” Maryam Nawaz said.

The chief minister said they would not be on their seats forever but as long as they were they would continue to serve the masses.

She commented that the decisions are not made by the conscience and the constitution, but rather to favor a defeated person. She said that Imran Khan’s party, PTI, was given even more than what they demanded.

“Who are those (people) who do not like the country making progress and re-write the Constitution,” she said.

The PML-N leader said a group of few people gave such orders which halted the process of development. She also said that the law and Constitution did not allow floor crossing, while the “SC judge’s ruling said, you can commit floor crossing”.
