LHC moved against increase in driving licence fee

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) received a challenge on Monday regarding the increase in the fee for Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) driving licenses. Syed Aftab Shah, the petitioner, argued that the Punjab government had raised the LTV license fee from Rs950 to Rs10,000, which he deemed excessive and burdensome for drivers. Seeking relief, Shah urged the LHC to invalidate the fee hike.

Following the preliminary hearing, Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC issued notices to the Punjab home secretary, Inspector General (IG), and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), requesting their responses to the petition.
