LHC nullifies detention of Shehryar Afridi, 57 PTI workers

RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court (Rawalpindi Bench) has annulled the detention of 57 PTI workers including former PTI minister Shehryar Afridi.

On Wednesday, Justice Anwar ul Haq took up the case of illegal detention of Shehryar Afridi and 57 other party workers.

At the onset of the hearing the Judge summoned Superintendent Adiala Jail.

The defense lawyer told the court that arrest orders of Shehryar Afridi were cancelled but still he is being detained.

The court declared the detention of Sheryar Afrifdi and 57 other PTI workers as void.

Last week Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench had declared the detention of former PTI minister Shehryar Afridi as illegal and ordered his release from prison, but the PTI leader was rearrested by Police.
