LHC to hear Pervaiz Elahi’s detention case next week

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has scheduled the hearing of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s detention case for August 16.

Counsels of Pervaiz Elahi as well as the Punjab government prosecutors will present their arguments before the court

Last week, the LHC summoned additional home secretary Punjab on plea of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s wife, complaining that the family was not being allowed to meet the incarcerated.

Qaisara Elahi had filed a petition challenging her husband’s detention order.

She contended before the court that her husband was being implicated in forged and politically motivated cases after the caretaker provincial government took over.

She submitted that her husband was being subjected to political victimisation on some pretext.

Accepting her petition the LHC will start hearing of the case from Aug 16 and a cause list in this regard has been issued by the registrar.
