Lightning collapses Attock police station, injures 5

lightning strike

ATTOCK: A sudden lightning strike came down on the Attock Khurd police station, resulting in the collapse of a portion of the building and injuring five police officers.

The incident occurred during a thunderstorm, with the force of the lightning causing a section of the structure to crumble, trapping the officials under debris.

According to reports, eyewitnesses recounted the tense atmosphere as dark clouds gathered and lightning illuminated the sky. A powerful thunderclap was followed by a blinding flash of lightning that struck the police station building, leading to the collapse.

Local authorities and rescue teams swiftly responded to the scene, working to rescue the trapped individuals from the rubble. The injured officers were rushed to a hospital for critical medical treatment.

In an unexpected turn, parked vehicles within the police station premises caught fire due to the intense lightning. Firefighters, who were already on-site due to the building collapse, diverted their attention to extinguishing the vehicle fires.

Initially, due to the sudden and dramatic nature of the collapse, concerns of an explosion emerged. As a precautionary measure, the bomb disposal squad was called in to investigate the cause. However, it was later confirmed that the collapse was a result of a direct lightning strike.
