Liver, bone marrow transplant centre to be set up in KP

PESHAWAR: Ali Amin Khan Gandapur the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday announced to establish a liver transplant and bone marrow transplant centre to enhance healthcare services in the province.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting attended by health experts, provincial cabinet members, and other officials.

The first liver transplant center is scheduled to be set up at the Institute of Kidney Diseases in Peshawar, with plans for its eventual relocation to Khyber Medical University.

Moreover, the meeting concluded with a decision to establish the Institute of Neurosurgery, which is earmarked to be located at Fountain House in Peshawar.

The provincial government’s objective is to make liver and bone marrow transplant services easily accessible to the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, thereby reducing the need for them to seek treatment outside the province.

Furthermore, concerted efforts are being made to ensure the availability of dialysis services around the clock in government hospitals equipped with such facilities, with plans underway to introduce dialysis services in hospitals currently lacking them.

Highlighting these initiatives, the Chief Minister emphasized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s dedication to prioritizing the health and welfare of its populace.
