Major martyred in Khyber operation

RAWALPINDI: An army major was martyred in action, while three terrorists and their facilitators have been apprehended in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by security forces in the Shakhas area of Khyber district, as stated by the military’s media affairs wing on Thursday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that Major Abdullah Shah led the operation based on information about the presence of terrorists in the area. While establishing blocking positions to prevent the terrorists from escaping, a fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the martyrdom of Major Abdullah, a 33-year-old officer from Kohat.

In an official statement, the ISPR affirmed, “The security forces of Pakistan are resolute in their commitment to eradicate the menace of terrorism, and the sacrifices made by our soldiers further strengthen our determination.”

A sanitization operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area.
