PMs Anwar Ibrahim, Shehbaz Sharif discuss enhancing Malaysia-Pakistan cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, held a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.

The two leaders engaged in in-depth, meaningful discussions in a warm and cordial atmosphere, focusing on a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest, including those concerning the Muslim Ummah.

They also explored mechanisms to enhance bilateral cooperation, aiming to achieve tangible outcomes in these areas.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Malaysian Prime Minister on Malaysia’s upcoming Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Pakistan’s continued engagement with ASEAN as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner and expressed his support for further enhancing Pakistan’s role within ASEAN.

Both Prime Ministers noted the long history of close cooperation between their countries and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the mutually beneficial partnership.

In setting the tone and future direction of bilateral relations, they emphasised the importance of dialogue and exchanges of visits at all levels, highlighting the role of the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), bilateral consultations, and other mechanisms to enhance engagement at all levels.
